When I started the long rectangle bathrooms decor, I first had to
decide what type of decor. The long narrowness of the room created a visual problem.
I then decided to rag paint the walls using a combination of left over
paints, I first watered the paints down slightly, and begin with large
spots of one color, after the first coat I continued applying spots in
different colors, ragging each wall until enough spots with enough
colors covered the walls entirely. I then made a mixture of half
water, half light colored paint and washed the walls with this
combination.
The overall effect was a tortoise shell look, and was a master-piece
in its own right. Some day the finished project will have a large
old-world stencil applied.
The
first accessory in the room set the stage, for what was to become the
rooms decor. It was a simple wood vase, and it went beautifully with
the faux tortoise shell walls. A small collection of dark wood items begin
and transformed the room into a tropical haven. Using the natural
fiber floor vases made a dramatic statement.
